The Dallas Morning News TEXSOM Wine Competition is a prestigious international wine competition that began in 1985. It is co-sponsored by the Dallas Morning News and TEXSOM, the Texas Sommeriliers Association. The 2014 competition had over 2,700 entries representing 27 states and 20 foreign countries.
The judging panel consists of highly respected people who work with wine professionally on a daily basis - restaurateurs, wine stewards, retail wine buyers, wine and food writers, and enologists (those that study the art and science of wine making) - as well as a few very knowledgeable consumers.
